About Houston Hardwoods

Tim McCoy (president) and Guy Pike (vice president) founded Houston Hardwoods in 1990. During their first year in business, Tim & Guy handled every aspect of the company themselves, from buying & selling to milling & delivering. Now Houston Hardwoods operates from a 50,000 square foot location that includes office space with approximately 20 employees.

Before launching the company, both company founders were on very different paths. McCoy had a business degree from Sam Houston State University. Pike had an engineering degree from the University of Texas. “We brought different approaches, ways of thinking, and educational backgrounds to the table; that helped set the stage for a successful business.” After just the first five years of operation, we started adding moulders to our equipment lineup. Now the company’s two SCMI moulders streamline the production process and designate specific machines to certain tasks.

Houston Hardwoods is continuously exploring new ways to have the best product and service possible because keeping our customers happy has been the key to our success. We are a proud member of the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas & Greater Louisiana and the Greater Houston Lumber & Building Materials Association.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Went here for the first time today. Their least expensive birch plywood is far better than Home Depot or Lowes BEST. Service was great. They helped me pick out the right wood for my project and steered me towards the less expensive option because the wood would be covered. They cut my 4x8 sheet down to four 2 foot x 4 foot sheets, loaded it into my truck, and all for less than the big box stores. I was in and out in 10 minutes. It takes me that long to find someone who can operate the saw at a big box store. If you're buying Birch Ply for loudspeaker enclosures, buy it here! I have a couple more projects going and I'll be back for a couple more sheets of ply and some lumber.

With over two decades of industry experience, Coy bridges operations, sales, and customer engagement to keep the business running efficiently.
